Recently my friends and I started going to a class at a studio specializing in pole dancing, arial silks, and belly dancing. Though I have yet to try belly dancing, I have now pole danced and done arial silks multiple times. Both are incredible workouts that work all parts of your body.
Pole dancing takes mostly arm and core strength to pull yourself up on the pole to spin around it. It also can really tone your legs and butt because a lot of moves require you to wrap your legs around the pole.My arm strength is currently really lacking so my friends were way better than me, but I can’t wait to go back and do it again! I honestly give a lot of credit to people who pole dance for a living because it is hard work.
Arial silks is something I’d never heard of before going to this studio, but now I’m obsessed! What you do is use the hanging silks that are tied to the ceiling and use them to hoist yourself up or spin around. It takes concentration and a bit of fearlessness. Now that I’ve been multiple times, the moves become muscle memory, but it’s cool to learn new moves every time!
